At the Base of Ground-Floor Walls
A horizontal damp tide-mark — typically no higher than 1 metre — running consistently along the base of a wall is the signature of rising damp. This occurs when a damp-proof course (DPC) has failed, is absent, or has been bridged by raised external ground levels or internal floor finishes. Patches That Appear in Cold Weather or in Corners and Behind Furniture

When to DIY and When to Call a Professional
